A Road to Treasure
Prayer
The Journey Home – The Final Chapter:
Prayer is a road filled with treasure yet to be discovered. A road we all too often avoid. As did the characters, Dorothy, The Tin man, Lion and Scarecrow.
It seemed easier to follow the obvious and the brightest. The yellow brick road was suppose to be a road that would lead to fulfilled promises. Promise that would bring peace and hope. Afterall, it was popular and verified. No one said the truth, that it was a mirage of hopelessness and despair.
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13-14

What is Prayer?
A simple conversation with Father God. A intimate, relaxed and truthful conversation. A conversation where we are invited to lay down all worry and concern. Worries of the day and the next. All of our concerns for family, friends, acquaintances and anyone.
The most basic definition of prayer is “talking to God.” Prayer is not meditation or passive reflection; it is direct address to God. It is the communication of the human soul with the Lord who created the soul. Prayer is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate his emotions and desires with God and to fellowship with God.

Prayer has four major value, amoungst many. It is a hidden treasure, a privilege, an opportunity to worship and lifeline for the soul.
-
A Hidden Treasure
First, prayer is the hidden treasure. A treasure full of all that’s needed for this life.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2Peter 1:3 NLT
-
A Privilege
Prayer is a privilege to speak to the Creator of the Universe. This should be of great value!
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line?
What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels[a] shouted for joy Job 38:4-7
-
Time of Worship
In addition, prayer is opprotunity and pleasurer to worship. To declare God’s worth in our lives. It is his air that we breath. He hold the universe in the palm of his hand.
Honor him as KING. King of our lives and this world. He is holy and there is no one like him.
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24
-
Lifeline of the Soul
Prayer is the life line of the soul, like the air that we breathe. God even commanded us to pray without ceasing.
17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thess 5:17-18
The Benefits of Prayer:
The benefits of prayers of prayer are not to be compared with anything benefit we have in this life. The benefit of our souls brings peace in the midst any of trial or suffering. Prayer brings about change in us, others and our situations.
Prayer is like a Road leading to Peace
As we approach the road of prayer, we walk through, not necessarily down. With intentionality, relationship and faith. In keeping with this attitude of heart God meets us there.
In hands he holds calm and quietness. A quietness like the stillness of water. A peace that can not be purchased or manufactured. It is a peace that passes all understanding.
Prayer will result in change
Prayer will cause the mind to flow in a different direction. A direction filled with clarity and hope. Changing the view of whatever situation or circumstance we are concerned about.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:5,6
His voice. His voice sounds like the sound of love. The sound of a cool of a breeze.
And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. I Kings 19:11-12
The sounds of warmth and relaxation. Never loud or boisterous. He always calms the storm. Whatever the storm that rages within. How do we know his voice? By faith.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
The bible says that the Lord sings over us like a mother over a child. Tending to her babies every need. Whispering to her baby love and care.
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. Zephaniah 3:17
The Invitation
No formal invitation needed. Jehovah God is our ‘Father’. If he is not your ‘Father’. He has invited ALL to come. He wants a relationship not religion.
Begin with Prayer and Come as you are.
Philippians 4:6,7 – Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Worry, anxiety, and stress; all cloud the mind and heart. Creating deep rooted lies. God wants you and I to be free from ALL the lies that the devil has told. And the lies we have believed.
But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatian 5:22
